SAMBO Nation, based in Texas, actively works to grow the sport of SAMBO by fostering an open and inclusive environment. Unlike some of the more rigid organizations, SAMBO Nation is free from political pressures, allowing practitioners to focus on mastering the fundamentals and fully exploring the art. With a commitment to both tradition and innovation, SAMBO Nation ensures that students experience the full scope of SAMBO, from foundational techniques to advanced applications. Their mission is to make SAMBO accessible to all while promoting growth within the sport.

Sila Voli is a grassroots SAMBO affiliation that stays true to the traditional methods of the art. Founded in the early 2000s by Greg Swanson, it emphasizes authentic SAMBO techniques and values. Ken Dunbar stands as one of the first black belts under the Sila Voli methodology and proudly holds the title of the first Certified Coach in the system. Ken and Greg share an incredible bond built on mutual respect, and their lifelong friendship continues to drive the growth and success of Sila Voli. Together, they remain dedicated to preserving and promoting the art of SAMBO.

Marcelo Alonso is a 7th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Master Carlson Gracie, being one of Carlson’s most famous and respected students. Alonso was an instructor at the Carlson Gracie Academy in Copacabana – RJ for many years, looking after illustrious athletes such as Leo D’Ilha (RIP), Paulo Filho or Renato Tavares before moving to the United States in the late 1990’s, settling in the Seattle area. Glacier Combat Arts is a PROUD Marcelo Alonso affiliate and brings Professor Alonso to the gym twice a year as well as visit him at his and other academies.  

Studies reveal that peace officers trained in Jiu-Jitsu experience fewer use-of-force incidents, improved morale, and a greater number of peaceful arrests. These officers also enjoy better community relations and face fewer workplace injuries. At Glacier Combat Arts, we fully support officers in expanding their skill sets to become more effective in their duties. By training in Jiu-Jitsu, officers not only enhance their personal safety but also foster stronger connections within the communities they serve.

Sensei Dodd leads the Judo program at Glacier Combat Arts and is a dedicated member of the Konjo Dojo family. We take pride in mastering the original Kodokan techniques while incorporating modern Judo methods. Our program also focuses on blending the grappling arts, ensuring students develop a well-rounded skill set that honors tradition while embracing innovation.

USA SAMBO serves as the American affiliate of FIAS, the international governing body for SAMBO. Glacier Combat Arts is proud to be a recognized USA SAMBO affiliate, aligning with the highest standards of the sport and its global community. This partnership ensures our students receive top-tier instruction and opportunities for growth in the SAMBO world.

Coach Devon’s striking methodology has been proven at the highest levels of competition. Glacier Combat Arts proudly stands as one of the first to adopt this approach, benefiting from its success.
